This week we designed and built the first part of our ecocolumns known as terrariums. Terrariums are transparent containers used to house and grow various types of plants. The terrariums were placed at the top of the ecocolumn. After our terrariums have filled with grown foliage, students will add aquatic plants, fish and snails to the aquarium placed at the bottom of the ecocolumn. This is an amazing and authentic way for our scientists to learn all about the relationship between living and nonliving things as well as learning all about a lake ecosystem.
