All About me!
Hello everyone! My Name is Ms. Lohitsa and I'm the K-6 science and engineering specialist at Beulah Shoesmith Elementary School. This is my first year at Shoesmith. and I couldn't be more excited! Science has always been one of my favorite subjects. As a kid I was always asking questions! I hope to pass on that curiosity to as many students as I can as the year progresses.
Before joining this amazing team of educators I was a science and engineering teacher at STEM Magnet Academy. Prior to that I was a science and literacy teacher on the south side of Chicago at Randolph Elementary School. I had the wonderful opportunity to get back into science at the middle school level and work with some of their gifted students.
I received my Bachelor's of Arts in Education degree from Michigan State University with a major in General science and a minor in chemistry. I obtained a science endorsement after joining CPS. I was recently admitted to MSU's Master in Arts program in Educational Technology. I will be finished by the summer of 2016. I think that continuing to grow and learn as an adult helps my ability to teach. It shows students that no matter how old you are, there is always something new to discover!
When I am not teaching or learning I enjoy swimming, traveling, seeing friends and family as well as trying new foods. I truly do love what I do for a living! I am an extremely passionate educator and hope to pass on some of my love of learning to our students here at Shoesmith. I look forward to getting to know all of my young scientists and their families!
Sincerely,
Ms. Lohitsa
