In an ecosystem there are several types of consumers. We need these different types of consumers to sustain food chains and food webs within an ecosystem. Today our ecologists took a look at how these various consumers affect populations in an ecosystem. Herbivore- an animal that eats only plants (koala, dear, cow giraffe). Carnivore- an animal that eats other animals (lion, tiger, wolf, fox, shark) Omnivore- an animal that eats both plants and animals (humans, most bears, several birds, and raccoon's). |
