Today was such an exciting day for our scientists! Today they had an opportunity to take a look and see what happened to their lima beans. To their surprise many of the lima beans had split open, sending a tap root shooting through the paper towel and many fibrous roots soaking up as much water as possible. A small white lining known as the seed coat, had begun to peel off. We even observed that two students had actual sprouts with leaves! We will be leaving our lima beans in their bags for another week to see what else may happen. Students observed that plants can grow without soil- the simply need, water, heat, light and air! |
