This week we had a chance to look at adaptations. Adaptations are body parts, behaviors and characteristics that help an animal survive. Different animals have different adaptations that help them survive in their ecosystems. For example, giraffes have long necks that help them reach leaves on the top of trees, and ducks have webbed feet to help them swim. We took a closer look at how beaks are adaptations for birds. There are many species of birds across the world. Each bird eats something a little different. Their beaks are stuctured to eat a wide variety of foods. Next week we will be starting an Engineering Design Challenge to design bird beaks. |
