In this lesson our kindergarten scientists designed a lab that explores what the sun does for our planet. They had gravel, water, soil and sand in two cups with a time and a lamp. Students labeled each pair of cups A and B. They placed cup A under the lamp and cup B away from the lamp. After 5 minutes we felt the materials in the cup to see if the temperature of the contents of the cup changed. Students quickly observed that the heat from the lamp made the materials in the cup very hot. This must mean that the sun makes the Earth feel really hot. Students also observed that some materials get warmer quicker than others. |
